"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" Out Today 11/20/2009
Have you heard? New Moon is out today. I for one don't care because the first film in the series Twilight did nothing for me. Sure this date has been circled on fans calendars for months, and there's nothing wrong with that, but how much hype is too much and will all this hype actually hurt the film? I for one hate hype. Although I will admit, if I was a Producer on the project then hype is what I'd be aiming for, but as a die hard movie fan just give me a few decent reviews. That being said, the reviews (by critics who matter) on New Moon aren't what you'd call satisfactory. But that's the beauty of making a movie that's main demographic is teens. No matter what people say about this movie it will still gross over $100 million this opening weekend, and I for one wouldn't be surprised if it reaches $400 million world wide by the end of its run. After all, isn't that the main reason Hollywood made it? Interested in hearing what the fans are saying about New Moon? Just click here. Add Comment 30 Killer Movie Closing Lines 11/18/2009
Nothing's better than a great line at the end of a movie. Finishing on powerful words makes you want more, and usually can spark up some interesting conversation about the flick you just saw. I came across this article that has collected 30 of some of the greatest closing lines in movie history. I do not agree with the order of many of them, but hey, it's not my list. At first I wasn't too sure about Pirate Radio, and I'll admit the switching over of the title from The Boat That Rocked didn't help, but after each viewing of the films trailer it has been growing on me. One thing about the film that definitely stands out is the fact that it uses the largest amount of licensed music in movie history. And would have had even more if not for some artists being greedy and requesting an insanely large fee for use of their music. Read about what Richard Curtis has to say about the making of Pirate Radio and it's music right here. Wes Anderson Talks "Fantastic Mr. Fox" 11/13/2009
Although Fantastic Mr. Fox is stop-motion animation, you can still see that the style of the film belongs to Wes Anderson. All of his films share this unique branding, and I for one am looking forward to seeing how it translates to animation. It's been a long process for Wes Anderson to get this film made, and to understand why, or to find out the inspiration behind choosing to make a stop-motion film, just click here. Guillermo Del Toro On Making 'The Hobbit' 11/11/2009
Though he's had an outstanding filmmaking career to date, Guillermo Del Toro will surely be remember, for better or for worse, for directing the upcoming Hobbit films. There is an immense amount of pressure on Del Toro to create The Hobbit with such perfection as his predecessor Peter Jackson did, for The Lord of the Rings films. The production of The Hobbit is well on it's way and to get an idea of how things are going, and to find out how the collaberation between Guillermo Del Toro and Peter Jackson is going just click here. Roland Emmerich on "2012" 11/09/2009
If you haven't heard yet the world is ending in 2012. You better get what you need done before then or else, well, you won't. That's the premise behind Roland Emmerich's epic disaster film 2012. It's been foretold by the Mayans that the demise of the world will happen during the year 2012 so who better to make a film about it then Emmerich. He's the director behind some of Hollywood's most successful disaster films such as Independence Day & The Day After Tomorrow to name a few. He also has a lot to say about his upcoming disaster movie, so if you're interested in reading about it just click here. Richard Kelly stormed onto the filmmaking scene in 2001 with his first feature Donnie Darko. Since then he's only directed the 2006 bomb Southland Tales which I personally have not seen mainly due to the horrible reviews, but he hopes to rebound with the release of The Box. The previews are cool and I don't think you can ever go wrong with casting Frank Langella (Masters of the Universe was my favorite film as a child). First, let me apologize for the lack of posts during the last week. I came down with terrible flu like symptoms, but luckily for me it was not the H1N1 virus. That being said it was a miserable Halloween, as I was bed ridden for most of it, but was able to show off my Hamburgler costume to the few trick-or-treaters who showed up. Anyways onto the post. Yes it's still 2009, and there are a few movies left that have an anticipated release, but let's just skip all that and go to 2010. I quickly looked at the list I'm about to post, and mostly do agree with it. The #1 film anticipated for 2010 is rightfully in that position, but check it out for yourself to see if you agree. The little movie that could has taken over as the new face in horror for this years Halloween season. Film fans are used to seeing a Saw film rule the box-office around this time of year, but this year, the indie hit Paranormal Activity is taking everyone by storm. The film started marketing itself by only using social media, and out of that, it's ballooned into a $60+ million domestic box-office hit. Not bad considering the budget was only $11,000 and it was shot on a DV camera. Find out more facts about Paranormal Activity right here. '30 Days of Night' Sequel Shooting in Canada 10/23/2009
It's getting close to Halloween which is a fantastic time to talk horror flicks. I love this time of year; the TV stations play creepy movies, the video stores push for horror films to be rented, and the studios speak about what horror films they have in production. 30 Days of Night which starred Josh Hartnett made a good amount at the box-office so it's no surprise that a sequel is being produced. The sequel titled 30 Days of Night: Dark Days does not have any 'big name' stars attached, but now a days so long as you give the audience a scare, I really don't think it matters anymore. I was a fan of the first film so I'm excited to hear this news, but what excites me more is that the film is being shot in Vancouver. Read more about this production here. |
